Mangupura, April 20, 2025 – I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport is celebrating three major religious holidays Easter, Galungan, and Kuningan wrapped in the rich beauty of Balinese culture. Highlighting the island’s unique, distinctive, and extraordinary traditions, the airport’s ambience offers passengers a warm and meaningful experience.

Travelers can admire festive decorations, including a giant Easter egg adorned with traditional Balinese carvings, lotus flowers, penjor, and gebogan.

Another highlight is the 12 meter installation at the domestic arrivals terminal, symbolizing the triumph of dharma over adharma in the universe, restoring balance and harmony. All of these cultural decorations have been on display since mid-April 2025.

In addition to the art installations, passengers and visitors were treated to a performance by a Balinese costumed choir singing spiritual songs on Friday (April 18).

The Galungan celebration also featured a Gebogan parade and traditional Balinese dances, held at both the domestic and international terminals on Tuesday (April 22). The festive series of events Easter, Galungan, and Kuningan will conclude with the Ngelawang tradition on May 4, 2025, at the domestic and international arrival terminals.

General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, stated that the airport seeks to be present in every special moment for passengers, including during these three closely celebrated religious holidays.

"What we are presenting this time is part of our customer-oriented program, while embracing local cultural wisdom. We want I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport to be a proud symbol of Indonesia. Airports are like front porches that welcome and bid farewell to travelers. Through thematic activities like this, we hope to create memorable experiences for our passengers," said Syaugi.

He further emphasized that the theme of this year’s celebration is Unity in Diversity. The airport aims to showcase Indonesia’s diverse religious and cultural backgrounds, harmonized through the strong and deeply rooted artistic expressions of Balinese culture.

Another noteworthy aspect is that all the Easter, Galungan, and Kuningan decorations at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport are made from eco friendly materials. “We avoid the use of plastics or other non-recyclable materials,” he stressed.

All installations are crafted from natural materials, such as bamboo weavings and palm leaves, while still ensuring durability since they will remain on display for up to three weeks. This initiative not only provides a unique atmosphere for passengers but also prioritizes environmental sustainability. It is in line with I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport’s Eco Airport principles and Bali’s commitment to sustainable tourism.
