kembali ke listMangupura, April 3, 2025 – I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport has expanded Bali–Thailand connectivity with the launch of flights to Bangkok (Don Muang) operated by Thai Lion Air on Thursday (3/4). Previously, the route had been served by three airlines: Batik Air, Indonesia AirAsia, and Thai AirAsia. In addition to Don Muang, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport also serves the Bangkok–Suvarnabhumi route operated by Thai Airways.
General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, stated that the opening of the Don Muang route by Thai Lion Air is a positive step, providing passengers with more flight options. “The Don Muang route will be quite competitive since it has already been served by three airlines. However, looking at the load factor performance in the first two months of this year, which reached more than 70 percent, we are optimistic that the presence of this new airline will further encourage international tourist arrivals from Bangkok to Bali and strengthen relations between Indonesia and Thailand,” he said.
The inaugural flight from Don Muang to Bali, flight number SL258, carrying 143 passengers, landed on Thursday (3/4) at 17:20 WITA and was welcomed with a water salute. The return flight, SL259, departed for Don Muang at 18:20 WITA carrying 128 passengers.
According to the airline’s press release, Thai Lion Air flights from Bali (DPS) to Bangkok (DMK) round trip are available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Starting April 10, 2025, the Bali–Bangkok–Bali route will be available daily with a frequency of seven times per week.
With the addition of this international route, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport added four new international routes in March: Perth, Darwin, Jeddah via Singapore, and Don Muang. For domestic flights, new routes to Palangkaraya and Manado were also added.
“Congratulations to Thai Lion Air. We hope this route operates smoothly and consistently. With the opening of this route, we expect to provide greater convenience and flexibility for passengers planning their journeys to Bali,” Syaugi concluded.
