Strengthening Connectivity with India, Ngurah Rai Airport Welcomes IndiGo Airlines’ Inaugural Flight from Mumbai

Mangupura, October 18, 2025  I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport – Bali welcomed the inaugural flight of IndiGo Airlines from Mumbai, India, marking the opening of a new direct route connecting one of India’s largest cities with Indonesia’s world-renowned tourist destination, the island of Bali.

The inaugural IndiGo flight, operated with an Airbus A320 aircraft under flight number 6E 1607, landed at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport at 4:00 PM (Central Indonesia Time), carrying 173 passengers. The aircraft was then scheduled to depart back to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai, at 5:45 PM under flight number 6E 1608. This service will operate daily.

General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport  Bali, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, stated that the launch of this new route marks a significant milestone in enhancing connectivity between Indonesia and India. “We are pleased to welcome IndiGo Airlines, which now provides direct access from Mumbai to Bali. This route not only expands the international flight network at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport but also strengthens tourism and economic relations between the two countries,” said Syaugi. He further added that India represents one of Bali’s most promising tourism markets. 

“The number of international visitors (foreign tourists) from India continues to show positive growth. Throughout 2025, we recorded 438,646 Indian nationals arriving through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport,” he explained. 

This figure represents an 8 percent increase compared to 2024, placing India as the third-largest source of international visitors to Bali. The opening of the direct Mumbai–Denpasar route is expected to further boost tourist arrivals and solidify Bali’s position as a top travel destination for Indian travelers.The operation of IndiGo’s Mumbai route adds to the growing air connectivity between India and Bali. Currently, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport is directly connected to three Indian cities  Mumbai, New Delhi, and Bengaluru  served by two airlines, namely IndiGo and Air India. With this new addition, the airport now serves 37 international routes across various countries and 21 domestic routes, totaling 58 flight routes. “As the number of routes at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport continues to grow, we remain committed to delivering excellent service for all airport users and fully supporting the ongoing development of Bali’s tourism sector,” Syaugi concluded.
