Mangupura, July 10, 2025 – I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Bali reported positive performance throughout the first half of 2025, serving a total of 11,424,245 passenger movements and 68,891 aircraft movements. This marks a 1 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024, which recorded 11,259,019 passenger movements and 68,202 aircraft movements.
Of the total traffic in the first half of the year, international flights contributed 7,239,415 passenger movements and 38,123 aircraft movements, while domestic flights accounted for 4,184,830 passenger movements and 30,768 aircraft movements.
General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, stated that this achievement is the result of collaboration among all stakeholders in providing safe, comfortable, and efficient services. “The increase in passenger traffic is a positive indicator that Bali’s tourism continues to show sustainable growth,” he said.
In terms of domestic routes, Jakarta remained the most popular destination with 1,990,732 passengers, representing 47 percent of the total domestic traffic in the first semester. This was followed by Surabaya with 644,626 passengers, and Labuan Bajo with 247,863 passengers. For international routes, Singapore topped the list with 1,341,294 passengers, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 841,610 passengers, and Melbourne with 547,923 passengers in the first half of 2025.
Based on international arrivals, Australian nationals dominated with 777,913 visitors, followed by India with 307,638 visitors, and China with 275,394 visitors. According to Syaugi, these figures reaffirm Bali’s role as a key driver of inbound foreign tourism and highlight potential markets for Indonesia’s tourism development. “In addition to maintaining major markets such as Australia, we are also focusing on the growing tourist numbers from India and China, which show a positive trend. This is an opportunity that we will continue to support through enhanced services and airline partnerships,” he added.
During the first semester of 2025, the airport recorded nine new flight activations. Among them was a new domestic route to Palangkaraya by Lion Air, while the other eight were frequency increases on routes to Manado, Guangzhou, Singapore, Bangkok (DMK), Darwin, Saigon, Adelaide, and Perth.
Notably, Saudia Airlines launched its Bali operations for the first time in April, connecting via Singapore. Meanwhile, Vietnam Airlines resumed operations in Bali post-pandemic, serving the Saigon–Denpasar route. With these additions, from January to June 2025, Ngurah Rai International Airport served 62 domestic and international routes operated by 51 airlines.
“Along with traffic growth, we are continuously innovating to support operations and enhance passenger services, including optimizing airport infrastructure and passenger flow, improving operational efficiency through the Management of Traffic (MoT) system, and utilizing technology to accelerate passenger processes such as self-check-in counters and immigration autogates. These efforts aim to deliver a seamless and efficient travel experience for all airport users,” Syaugi explained.
The airport’s performance in 2025 has also been recognized with several accolades. “We were ranked 6th in the Best Regional Airports in Asia category during our debut at the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2025, and we were named Best Airport 15–25 Million Passengers in Asia Pacific by Airports Council International (ACI). In addition to these two international honors, we also received the Prima Utama Award at the 2024 Excellent Public Service Evaluation Awards in the transportation sector from Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation,” Syaugi said.
“We would like to thank all passengers for their trust, as well as our stakeholders for their collaboration and synergy, which have enabled us to achieve these positive results in the first half of 2025. We remain committed to positioning the airport as a proud main gateway that supports Bali’s economic growth through tourism,” he concluded.
