During this peak travel period, Wahyudi also reminded passengers to plan their departure times wisely. “We advise travelers to arrive at the airport at least 2–3 hours before their scheduled departure. To avoid long queues, we encourage passengers to use online check-in, ensure their belongings comply with aviation safety regulations, and prepare their travel documents in advance. This will help make their journey through the airport smoother and more comfortable,” he concluded.

Mangupura, June 6, 2025 – The government’s decision to add an extra collective leave day in conjunction with Eid al-Adha on June 6, 2025, has once again provided an opportunity for the public to travel and enjoy holidays. Anticipating this, the management of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport has optimized airport services to ensure smooth operations.

Acting General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Wahyudi, stated that long weekends have a positive impact on passenger traffic. “In May, passenger numbers at Ngurah Rai Airport reached the highest record so far this year, with a total of 2,040,309 passengers. One of the main drivers was the two long weekends in that month, Waisak and Ascension of Jesus Christ,” he said.

“Based on the current trend, we also anticipate an increase during the Eid al-Adha holiday. According to our calculations and historical data, more than 339,523 passengers are expected to travel through I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport from June 5 to 9, averaging 67,905 passenger movements per day, or a 10 percent increase compared to regular days. The peak is predicted to occur on Sunday, June 8, 2025, with around 75,199 passenger movements. To accommodate this, we have prepared several strategic measures to ensure smooth operations and passenger comfort,” he added.

Measures include intensifying monitoring at service points with high potential for queues, managing the flow of vehicles and passengers at both domestic and international terminals to keep traffic smooth and efficient, coordinating with airlines and ground handling operators to maintain on-time flight schedules, and ensuring the availability and readiness of all operational facilities.

During the Ascension Day long weekend (May 29 – June 1, 2025), Ngurah Rai Airport recorded 277,703 passenger movements, with the highest figure of 75,150 on June 1, 2025. The average daily passenger traffic during this period was 69,425.

In line with the increase in traffic during long weekends, the airport management is also preparing for the upcoming school holidays and summer vacation season. “Bali is entering its peak season, with school holidays bringing more domestic tourists and the summer holidays attracting international visitors. Last year, during this period, we served an average of 69,000 to over 73,000 passengers per day. We are now arranging operational readiness and services in collaboration with all stakeholders to ensure service quality is well maintained,” Wahyudi explained.
