Acting General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Wahyudi, stated that the upward trend in passenger numbers has been evident since April.

“Passenger movement showed an increase starting in April, and May recorded even higher growth. The peak was observed during long weekends, particularly on May 9 (Waisak holiday) with over 72,000 passengers, and again on June 9 (Iduladha collective leave) with 72,875 passengers. On average, we served more than 65,000 passengers daily in May, up 7 percent compared to the normal daily average of 61,000 passengers,” he explained.

Cumulatively, from January to May 2025, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport has served 9,276,995 passengers, consisting of 5,873,639 international passengers and 3,403,356 domestic passengers, with a total of 56,835 aircraft movements (31,563 international and 25,272 domestic).

“Compared to 2024, passenger and aircraft traffic growth remains modest, with passenger numbers up 1 percent and aircraft movements up 0.4 percent. However, we project higher growth from June through August, supported by the school holidays and summer season. June will also see the addition of new flight services, and we are optimistic that traffic will continue to rise with consistently optimal service,” Wahyudi added.

Meanwhile, based on immigration records, from January to May there were 2,728,492 international tourist arrivals from 205 countries. “I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport is not only Bali’s main gateway but also a vital hub for the island’s tourism. Together with all stakeholders, we remain committed to enhancing service quality, from operational readiness to human resources, while continuously upgrading facilities to improve the overall passenger experience,” Wahyudi concluded.
