Acting General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Wahyudi, explained that the increase was largely driven by national holiday periods in April. “In the first week of April, many people were still enjoying the extended Idul Fitri holidays, followed by another long weekend in the third week for Good Friday and Easter,” he said.
During the Idul Fitri holiday period from April 1–7, the airport served 495,879 passengers, while over the Good Friday and Easter holidays (April 17–20), passenger traffic reached 280,692 travelers. Across both holiday periods, the airport handled an average of 70,000 passengers per day, an increase of 16 percent compared to the 2025 daily average of 60,000 passengers.
From January to April 2025, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport served 7,236,686 passengers and recorded 44,788 aircraft movements. This figure reflects a 2 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024, which recorded 7,123,666 passengers.
Of the total passengers, 63 percent were international travelers (4,561,206 passengers), while 37 percent were domestic travelers (2,675,480 passengers).
The busiest domestic route in April was Jakarta (CGK) with 336,743 passengers, followed by Surabaya (119,119 passengers) and Labuan Bajo (51,474 passengers). For international destinations, Singapore led the list with 241,213 passengers, followed by Kuala Lumpur (145,044 passengers) and Melbourne (43,910 passengers).
In terms of foreign arrivals, Australian nationals topped the list with 141,634 arrivals in April, followed by Indian nationals (50,879 arrivals) and Chinese nationals (47,166 arrivals).
Wahyudi noted that April’s performance highlights Bali’s continued appeal as a global travel destination. “Overall, the airport’s operational performance in April shows that Bali remains a highly desirable world-class destination. As the airport operator, we are committed to providing excellent service for all passengers, ensuring memorable travel experiences through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport,” he said.
He added that efforts to enhance services will continue, both in terms of facilities and connectivity. “Looking ahead, new domestic and international routes will be opened, further strengthening Bali’s connectivity,” Wahyudi concluded.
