Mangupura, August 21, 2025 – I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport has once again held its annual ARFF Challenges 2025 program as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the readiness and capabilities of its Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) personnel in handling airport emergency situations. Carrying the theme “Fast, Accurate, and Safe,” this event highlights the importance of speed, precision, and safety in every rescue operation.

As an airport with ARFF Category 9 status, I Gusti Ngurah Rai is required to maintain the highest standards of aviation emergency response. This category demands full preparedness in terms of facilities, equipment, and human resource competencies, making continuous training programs such as the ARFF Challenges essential.

The ARFF Challenges 2025 were joined by I Gusti Ngurah Rai’s ARFF personnel, who participated in a series of activities designed to test physical endurance, strong teamwork, and quick, accurate decision-making. These exercises reflect ARFF’s critical role in ensuring flight safety and delivering professional emergency responses.

The program kicked off on August 19, 2025, with a run-swim-rescue exercise, followed by a firefighting drill on August 21 and 23, 2025. The agility tests continued on August 25, 2025, with another run-swim-rescue, and concluded on August 26, 2025, with a session on innovative ARFF operational strategies. Each activity was designed to challenge technical skills, physical resilience, and creative approaches to emergency handling.

Beyond being a competition, this event serves to maintain the readiness of facilities, personnel, and procedures in responding to emergencies. Through the ARFF Challenges, both individual and team performance can be continuously sharpened, improving technical expertise as well as on-the-ground coordination.

To ensure objective evaluation, ARFF Challenges 2025 involved external assessors, including representatives from the Badung Fire Department and Denpasar Search and Rescue (SAR). Their participation not only strengthens inter-agency synergy but also provides a more comprehensive evaluation standard for ARFF personnel.

Ibnu Solikin, Acting General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, emphasized the significance of this event in building ARFF professionalism.
“This activity is not merely a competition but also a platform for continuous development, reinforcing team cohesion and ensuring that every ARFF member is fully prepared for any possible airport emergency,” he stated.

By being consistently held each year, the ARFF Challenges are expected to foster innovation while strengthening operational strategies. More importantly, the program reflects I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport’s unwavering commitment to upholding the highest aviation safety standards through the preparedness of its personnel, facilities, and procedures.
